Catching up the last year! Spring 2010

Here's Chris at the kids' 8th birthday party in May of this year. Hard to believe they are 8 already! They had a party together at the roller rink....NEVER AGAIN! It was fun for them, but awful for the adults that dislike obnoxious hiphop music and obnoxious kids.
Here's Lindsay at their party with her friends. I think they all had a good time. We did a round of laser tag, which was really fun, even for the adults. It was good to get out aggression by lasering one's ex-spouse! :)
Here's my fiance Larry and his son Spenser, who was apparently trying to look tough :)
Here are the kids at the trip to Disneyworld that the three of us took in March of 2010. We had a great time, and got to see M'liss and her little Smart Car. We also went to Medieval Times, which was one of the highlights of our trip, thanks to M'liss and Graeme.

So, the summary of the last year....um....nah, forget it! Most of you already know what we've been up to. Met Larry through a mutual friend last August, and we hit it off right away. We are getting married in June of 2011. Kids started 2nd grade in September, and have done well this year. Can't believe the Summer is just about here. We are putting in a pool this week, and the kids have no idea. They are oblivious!

That's all for now!

Spring is coming!

Hi everyone,

I am optimistic that the winter is going to end soon! I have seen some canadian geese and some other birds, and have seen a little bit of green pushing up in the garden this week. I just hope we don't have any more big snowstorms. I think we are all just done with snow!
The kids just turned 7 last weekend, it's really hard to believe all that time has passed already!
Here's what we have been up to since September:
>I have recovered nicely from my body lift surgery, and the scars are finally starting to fade
>We are ALL taking gymnastics classes! The kids go on Wednesday nights, and I have just started an adult class on Thursday nights. I decided to do a trial class just for fun, and have found that it is great exercise, and that I can do more than I imagined! Imagine, me at 41 doing cartwheels, roundoffs, and front handsprings on the tumble track!!
>Lindsay is in Brownies and Chris is in Cub Scouts. I think they are having fun, though Chris won't admit that he likes it. Just like a boy! He and Lindsay had fun making wooden cars for the Pinewood Derby and racing them.
>The kids are doing well in 1st grade in seperate classes, and are in an advanced reading group. Chris has been dealing with sort of a "bully" at school, but that is now under control. Imagine 6 and 7 year olds bullying each other!
>We went to an indoor water park in February on our break, and really had fun. This was in Niagara Falls, and was a nice break from the winter blues.
>In the fall, my dad had been diagnosed with colon cancer, luckily very early (it was a tiny speck). He had surgery in October and sailed right through, and is doing very well on an oral chemotherapy regimen. Go Dad!!!
>We went to Grammy and Papa's for Thanksgiving in New Hampshire, and really enjoyed our trip there as always. We went to our favorite place to play, Fun Spot www.funspotnh.com .
>We are looking forward to 11 days off together in April. We might go to NJ to visit family
>Mama has been spending a LOT of time on Facebook, but has really caught up with dear friends, family, and some old schoolmates. It has been a lot of fun
>We are hoping to plan a Disneyworld vacation sometime in the next year. We are open to suggestions if anyone knows any good travel agencies for the planning phase of things.
That's it for now!!

Fall is here again!

Hi everyone!

We had a really nice Summer, and ended it with an RV camping trip to Jellystone Park in the middle of nowhere, NY. It's actually in North Java, NY, which is between Buffalo and Rochester. We had fun, and rented an RV on site, which was quite luxurious! We did have a campfire each night, and roasted marshmallows and made s'mores. It was the perfect setting for a family with young kids. We also got to see family over the summer, and had a trip to NJ in the springtime as well.

In other news, school has started, in case you hadn't noticed. The kids are in separate first grade classes now, and seem to be thriving. They are in the middle and on the right, in case you didn't know that! Chris has joined Cub Scouts, and Lindsay has joined Brownie Girl Scouts. They have their first meetings at the beginning of October. And, so the journey begins!!

I am home on medical leave after some surgery, but things are going well and I hope to be back to work in about 2 more weeks.

We just had a visit from Dad and Viv, who ran my household the entire time they were here. It was so nice to just have the time with them, and for the kids to have the time with them. They took amazing care of us! I can never thank them enough!

We are already talking about Halloween costumes, it seems way too soon for that! Not looking forward to raking leaves - not one of my favorite pastimes, that's for sure!

Happy Fall everyone!

Springtime in Rochester

We have had a beautiful springtime here in Rochester. Notice I am not mentioning the winter, though it was pretty good. Above is a picture of the kids from Mother's Day. Chris actually wanted to wear a shirt and tie, which was a first! Lindsay wore the cute summer dress that Aunt Laurie gave her.
Speaking of Laurie, we had a great visit to NJ for Spring break in April. We drove part way to Scranton for an overnight in a hotel, and then went to Wildwood from Saturday through Thursday. We went to the boardwalk, visited the beach at Cape May, then went to north jersey on Thursday with Laurie to visit Steve and Sherry for a few days. We really enjoyed visiting with everyone. The kids were great little travellers!
The kids have been doing great in Kindergarten, and are now reading and writing. It is amazing how quickly that happened!
We went to Niagara Falls on Memorial Day weekend for 3 days and 2 nights. We stayed at an awesome hotel called the Americana Resort. It has it's own waterpark including a wave pool and water slides, a great outdoor playground, and an arcade. We also visited the Skylon tower and ate at the Rainforest Cafe. It was a great time, and the kids slept really well.
We are looking forward to the Summer! The kids' last day of school is June 23rd, and I am taking that week off to spend with them. Then, they start day camp for 7 weeks on June 30th.
We are going to get a visit from Papa around June 18th for a couple of days. We can't wait to see him and Aunt Sharon and Uncle Murray. We wish Grammy was coming too!
The kids are learning how to sew! Chris expressed interest when I was sewing Bunder (again!) and wanted to learn. So, I found a cute sewing kit at Joann's last night and we worked on it this morning. It was really cute, with a plastic needle and yarn, and 2 projects, a heart and a kitty to sew together and stuff and decorate with sequins and googly eyes. They did pretty well.
I will try to update this more often and post more pictures!
Love,
Gina, Chris, and Lindsay

Thanksgiving stuff

We had a really nice Thanksgiving week. I had the opportunity to go to Kindergarten on Tuesday! I arrived as the kids got off of the bus, and was one of 5 "room moms" for the day. Michelle was another one too. Needless to say, the kids were super excited that both of us were there. Chris kept looking at us and sticking his tongue out. Lindsay also looked at us a lot and smiled.

They had special activities for Thanksgiving, including 4 different activities in a "round robin" style. I ran the scavenger hunt, in which the kids teamed up in pairs and had to search the room for words on construction paper. Once they found and checked off all 5 on their clipboards, they had to put the feather shaped papers on a turkey bulletin board. They loved it so much, many of them wanted to do it again. Michelle ran a Thanksgiving Bingo game. At another table, they made a harvest (trail mix) snack. I don't recall the last activity.

Then, they had a snack of juice, harvest mix, and apple sauce that they themselves had made a few days before!

Then the rest of the parents came in for the Thanskgiving "show"...the kids announced and sang about 4 songs. It was so cute! My favorite one was about the farm where the farmer was looking for the turkey, and the kids hid it. They ended up eating Kentucky Fried Chicken for dinner!!

The kids spent Thanksgiving day with Michelle at her girlfriend's family, and I went with Michael and his kids to my dear friends' house, Rik and Kari. It was fun and really yummy!

All in all, it has been a busy week! I just wish I didn't have to work today...can't have everything I guess!

By the way, it snowed yesterday, and it stuck too! We have about 2 inches on the ground, with more leaves falling on top of it. It is actually quite beautiful...the tree behind our neighbor's house has leaves that are golden/orange in color, a nice contrast to the white snow.

I will post some more pictures soon!

Fall fun!

Last weekend we had a lot of fun raking leaves and jumping in them. The kids also were laying in the leaf pile. Here is Lindsay, being buried and silly. Gosh, to be a kid again!

WELCOME TO OUR SITE!!!

Hello everyone!
Here is my new website, the Wise Family Blog. I will keep you updated on what the kids have been up to, post pictures, post things that might be of interest. Wish me luck, since I have never done this before...yikes!!

Well, let's see...Lindsay and Chris had a really fun Halloween this year. They had parties at daycare and at school, and ate a fair amount of sugar, I'm sure! Then they came home, ate pizza, and went out trick or treating with their friend Maggie. Chris was a motorcycle boy, and Lindsay was a gymnastics girl. That's what they called themselves anyway. Look below for a picture of the kids with their friends, Bridget and Maggie. My two are in green.
